Hooked on Gold Gazette 05/30/08

Hey, I don't remember if I got this picture posted from the Tucson Show last February that was sent to me by a reader. I came across it while I was searching for a picture to put up and thought I would let you see it again, if it was here before. Mighty nice display.

NEWS
Wow, gold sure did take a corrective dip this past week, didn’t it?

You will be pleased to hear that the weather in Colorado is finally beginning to warm up! The Front Range will be in the 80’s this week with temps around B.V. in the 70’s. It looks like we will begin the summer pattern of sun in the morning and scattered showers in the afternoons. I hear that the rafting season is heating up and the water is high so if you are here to find gold with your dredge, be aware that we will have higher than normal water levels for a longer time this year.

The road to Cache Creek is open. The BLM opened it last Saturday and had a line of people waiting to get in. Make sure you have your highbanking special bonding permit specific to Cache Creek, and limiting you to 10 days when you go up. (Boy is that a mouthful). Panners, sluice boxes and hand equipment do not need this bond. The season is going into high gear, so watch the high water, be polite to each other, and obey the laws.

News this week seems to be lackluster. Perhaps that is good! We seem to be in the summer trend of flat markets until August or so. Everyone must be out having fun instead of worrying about their investments. Don’t be fooled, however, with the recent dip in oil, ‘cause you can be sure the price will go back up. The same with gold and silver. Getting to your special places to find gold will cost you a bunch more this year as fuel, food and accommodations are on the rise.

A streamflow guide will be posted for your convenience while runoff is under way on some Colorado Rivers. You can check those each week on the Gold in Colorado page.

World Open Panning website has this year’s world wide panning competitions listed and they add more all the time. A great site to visit: http://www.worldopenpanning.homestead.com/ .

Until next week……
