Hooked on Gold Gazette 10/10/08

Wow. What can be said about what is going on in the markets this week? Gold advanced into the $936 range and then back down. The dollar is up and the Euro is sliding. And the stock markets of the world are near crash mode. On a better note, I am slathering on golden Orange Ginger body lotion and breathing in the aroma deeply so I can go to one of my happy places until this mess sorts itself out. (You can get that at Bath and Body Works if you’d like to give it a try).

News this past week included some about the dredge piles in Breckenridge that the city bought last year and put into their “Open Space” program. According to one of the Planning Committee members, classifying the rocks and removing the dirt that bears gold is not allowed. Neither is gold panning or sluicing allowed. There are several people who are trying to get involved with modifying this attitude, but until we can resolve this issue, you cannot prospect for gold in the dredge piles that are in Breckenridge’s Open Space. The Denver club was successful in getting Jefferson County to allow our gold prospecting activities in their open space a few years ago, so this issue is not closed. Give us some time to work on it and perhaps next season we will have better news about it. (Dang, it’s a bunch of rocks, people!)

I noticed that the goldnstore page is not showing, so I will be spending a little time to see what is up with that. I purchased a shopping cart this past week, and as soon as I can get that working, I’ll be replacing it anyway. It’s a wonder that someone hasn’t told me about it before now.

Also, I was online this past week and watched as someone tried to send for panning tips and DIY bucket classifier instructions without a name or e-mail address to send it to. Folks, you can give me any name you want……Fido will do, but unless I have an e-mail address to send the request to, you can’t get it. I had to watch as this person sent the form in 4 times within 5 minutes. Honestly, I don’t want your e-mail address so I can send you a bunch of stuff you don’t want. I DO wish that some of you would respond to this blog and tell people you don’t get spammed by me. Please? You can post a comment at the bottom of this blog and it will go to get moderated by me and then posted. I only moderate so that I don’t have someone posting profanity I don’t have control over.

Did you find any gold this past week? How about this past summer? Respond to any of the blogs that are about finding gold, and it will get posted for others to read. I don’t care where you found your gold, just give a few lines about what you found in what state. You don’t need to give away your special spot or anything.

Have you visited any of the gold prospecting AUCTION pages? You’ll find 4 of them under AUCTIONS on the menu bar. E-Bay has a lot to offer you for really good prices. Check them out for Christmas and buy something that your favorite prospector would love to have.

Well, our golden fall weather is getting pretty cold today and the weekend looks like it will be pretty chilly, too. Kinda puts a hold on all of our gold prospecting activities, but we are hopeful that November will give us a few nice days to go looking for gold. I know for those in Australia, their season is winding down, too, as most of it is done in the winter months when weather isn’t so HOT. Halloween is just around the corner, and that means Christmas isn’t far behind. Gold and Sterling Silver Jewelry is a great gift for anyone on your list. Until next week, as always,

Good Prospecting to You,
Shirley
