Got Gold?

Good Morning Gold Prospectors! Have you Got Gold? Sure hope so. With the weather finally warming up here in Colorado, more and more prospectors are out finding gold. Us too! Those first few days in the high country are taxing, though.

GPOC had wonderful crowd participation panning for gold at their panning troughs last weekend in Breckenridge during their Kingdom Days celebration. The outhouse races were a scream! We did get camp opened up and found we had had visitors. They must have had a BYOF party, as there were seeds and evidence of snacks everywhere. Of course there is no food in the trailer during the winer, so the little buggers brought in their own food and began storing it in the trailer. There was also evidence that they had begun to build nests, too! One of them, it seems, chewed a hole in the edge of the floor covering while standing on one of the tires. We plugged it up and made it impossible to get back to it. Some tin nailed all along the edge should keep them out next year. We cleaned for almost an hour before we could unpack after a long Sunday in Breckenridge that left us pretty well exhausted.

Next day we slept in a bit and put everything in order, did a little propsetcing and found some gold, then off to dinner with my sister and her husband. Tuesday was a trip to look at property, as our camp will be closing at the end of this year, and we will be locating in another spot next year. A little prospecting on the way home gave us a little more gold for our vials.

I want to mention the new form for a minute. I am still getting used to how it comes in, and one of the buttons wasn't coded correctly, so if I have missed your request, or you didn't get everything, please email me back and re-request it. Also, make sure you leave me a first name and email address to get the info to you.

Good Prospecting to You,

NEWS

Gold is back down this week, but it’ll be back up in no time! In the meantime, gold prospecting in Colorado seems to be in full swing from the number of requests for information, and reports of found gold I’m getting. Have fun out there, but be aware that the rivers are still high and we need to be careful around the water. All you “DAD’S” out there, have a fantastic Father’s Day! Where would any of us be without YOU!!!!!!!!!

Site should be Ok in Firefox now, but the form page was down with glitches. It took most of the week to get it back to working gain, but with a new program, it is back to taking requests for information A OK. Due to all this work, I did not get the Coloradoans piece posted last week.

Short newsletter this week as we are getting ready for a short trip that includes Kingdom Days in Breckenridge, which celebrates Breckenridge’s days as a kingdom unto itself, where we will be helping GPOC with panning demos. Then, a couple of days to open camp before we will be going back to “work”. Newsletters will probably be shorter and not every Friday for the next 9 weeks as we spend our time out in the field finding our own gold. Good luck to all of you, be courteous to one another, and be safe. Gold Prospecting is hard work, like in digging ditches or working on the railroad in the old days. Watch your back, and your energy levels as well as the altitude. Drink plenty of fluids. It is very easy to forget to drink water and you can dehydrate quickly at high altitude.

A streamflow guide is posted for your convenience while runoff is under way on some Colorado Rivers. You can check those each week on the Gold in Colorado page. I added more rivers this week, so you might be able to find one nearer to you. I check out http://stream-flow.allaboutrivers.com/Colorado/river_flow-sCO.html for my information.

World Open Panning website has this year’s world wide panning competitions listed and they add more all the time. A great site to visit: http://www.worldopenpanning.homestead.com/ .

Until next week……
